Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Harrison, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across New Jersey run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Harrison is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Harrison is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New Jersey's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Unable to verify their food on online orders. Ordered twice on UberEats, both times food was missing. They took NO accountability and said that the chef had checked the bag, and they will double check before my order goes out. This was my order for "Gol Sev Puri"... without the main ingredient, Sev. Don't bother ordering online.

Here’s a review you can post: Had a wonderful dinner at Mishtaan in New Jersey and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. What stood out the most was how authentic and homely the food tasted. Unlike many restaurants that rely on excessive spices or rich flavors, the dishes here were well-balanced and reminded us of freshly cooked home food. We tried the dosas, parota with chicken curry, and mutton curry, and every dish was excellent. The dosas were perfectly prepared, the parota was soft and flaky, and both the chicken and mutton curries were flavorful without being overpowering. To end the meal, we had ginger tea and coffee, both of which were a perfect finish to a satisfying dinner. If you’re looking for authentic South Indian food with a genuine homemade taste, Mishtaan is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!

Mishtaan Taste the Legacy in Harrison, NJ, is really one of the best Indian restaurants in New Jersey—especially in Harrison. I’ve been going here for years, since they opened. They were the first to bring South Indian breakfast items like dosas, idlis, punugulu, etc., to Harrison, and their quality has definitely stood the test of time. They are always introducing new types of snacks and street food. I was recently able to try their Piri Piri Cheese Pizza, and let me tell you—it is truly one of the best things I’ve ever had. It’s made on naan that crisps up so well and is really well seasoned. We also got the Poori Korma, and those were absolutely out of this world. They fry it fresh to order, so it may take a couple of minutes, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Lastly, I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve ordered sweets from this place. Having opened only a couple of years ago, they have so quickly become so recognized across the state. At a lot of my friends’ poojas, events at temples, etc., there is always a box of sweets from Mishtaan. They even showed us a couple of sweets they were making right when we walked in (and gave us some samples). They were frying

A good small place for a friends outing or a date if you want to eat indian food and platters. We ordered mysore masala, veg burger and falafel platter. Falafel platter is must to try and also the fries.. Mysore Masala could have been a little crispier but you can always ask them to..Sambar and chutney was too good. The service is fast and the staff is very kind. The staff was kind enough to give us a complimentary sweet as well
